Recognizing The Wallingford School System Community

The Covid pandemic continues to challenge every Wallingford school system member. Recently, the Wallingford Education Foundation [WEF] Board coordinated an effort to acknowledge every school system members’ contribution through these challenging and unprecedented times.

In November, 1,150 administrators, teachers, and support staff members received a hand-written appreciation note from a WEF Board member. In addition, every school system member was entered into a December drawing for $50 Amazon gift cards. The random drawing recipients received their gift cards before the Christmas break.

WEF Board Chairperson, Stephen Hoag, PHD, reflected on the effort; “The Board wanted to acknowledge the Wallingford Public School faculty and staff’s efforts during the pandemic.  Rather than a blanket appreciation statement, the WEF Board of Directors felt strongly that a personalized note would be the best method to convey that appreciation. This required each Board member to hand write over 120 cards each to ensure every Wallingford School System member was recognized.”

Stephen acknowledged that the pandemic has hampered the traditional WEF fund raising efforts in 2020 and 2021, but every effort will be made to continue the WEF’s mission through this pandemic. Due to this fund-raising disruption, donations are encouraged.
